Not Denied Access
“Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, 2 through whom also we have access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God” (Romans 5:1-2 NKJV).
To our great annoyance, we sometimes see the term “denied access” on our computer screens. We are blocked from accessing the information or content we need. We are usually reminded that a membership, password, code or something else of that nature is needed. Unless we are willing to pay the fee or meet some other requirements that desired information will remain inaccessible to us.
In the Old Testament, only the high priest could enter the holy of holies once a year, on the Day of Atonement (Heb 9:7). From a New Testament perspective, that barrier and those limitations are long gone because of the Finished Work of Jesus (Mark 15:37-38). In this dispensation, the church age, all believers, both Jews and Gentiles, have, by grace and through faith, full access to the Throne of Grace (Eph 2:8-18; Heb 4:14-16).
In Revelation 3:8, we read about a door that “no one can shut”. This speaks of an opportunity to go forward in grace, pursuing whatever God has called us to do. In our relationship with the Saviour, we never again have to fear the wretched words “denied access” since we have full access to the grace in which we stand. The password – “accepted” – is eternally stored in the Father’s mind (Eph 1:6).
