Salvation is a word that actually means “saved.” What is it then that we are to be saved from? It is obvious that there is much sin and evil in this world. Not only in others but also in each of us.
Sin can be described as being separated from God or “willfully missing the mark,” that is, doing what one should not do even though one knows better. Paul, who lived at the same time as Jesus, said the same thing. “I do not understand what I am doing; what I want to do I do not do, and what I do not want to do I do. O wretched man, who will help me?
But thank God! In Christ there is no condemnation. We know that our own sin has consequences with eternal results. Hell is a fact! Whether I (or you) believe it or not.
We cannot pay the price for our sin ourselves. God, who is righteous, only accepts a perfect sacrifice for sin. This perfect sacrifice was Jesus. He died for you and me. Through your faith in Jesus, you are accepted by God, not because of what you have done or how “good” you are, but because of what He has done for you on the cross. Through your faith, you become, as the Bible describes it, born again. A new creation without sin, this may not mean that you change on the outside but God will accept you because you accept His Son as your Savior.
John 3:3
Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
John 3:16
16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
Rom 10:9-10
God bless you!
